  • new version: 4.013c
  • new secondary attribute: initiative; equals attack attribute of character; for every 5 points of initiative, the character gets an additional attack/turn; if an attack misses the target, the current turn ends (the "leftover" attacks are dropped); some weapons & armor are modifying the initiative of the character
  • trait "Quick Attack" modified: the character gets an additional attack/turn for every 4 points of initiative (1pt)
  • new trait: Nimble Fingers (picking up items or gold does not end the current turn)
  • trait "Arcane Power" modified: the spell power bonus is reduced to +1 for every 2 points of mastery; the point cost of the trait is reduced to 1
  • modified the boni from some of the active spells/enchantments: spells that provided a bonus of [spellpower] to one attribute provide now a bonus of 3+([spellpower]/10) instead
  • the "critical hit" secondary attribute of the character is now directly calculated from the "attack" attrbiute (+boni); it is no longer limited to 25%
  • characters with the trait "Toughness" or wearing boots are no longer slowed down by spiked floors
  • characters wearing boots take no damage from spiked floors
  • new spell: Fetch (allows the caster to retrieve an item or gold from a remote location)
  • new monster ability: limited perception (character gets +30% to stealth when trying to sneak by)
  • new monster ability: acid (character gets damaged when damaging the monster in melee combat; damage equals rand(1,(monster strength)/3))
  • new monster ability: immune vs magic (spells & magic items deal no damage against this monster)
  • new items: Calligraphy Set (allows to copy a scroll), Potion Duplicator (allows to duplicate a potion (exception: Elixirs and Potion of Heroes/Gods)), Centaur Longbow (magical weapon, +1 attack, +5 damage), Ring of Eternal Frost (Aura of Cold), Bracelets of the Phoenix (Aura of Flames), Robe of the Phoenix (Aura of Flames), Helmet of the Eternal Flame (Aura of Flames), Ring of Travelling Forever (bonus to movement), Gauntlets of Giant Strength (bonus to strength)
  • characters with the trait "Alchemy" are no longer starting the game with 5 randomly selected potions; instead, they get a Healing Potion, a Poison Antidote, a Potion of Fire Resistance, a Potion of Cold Resistance, and 3 Potion Duplicators
  • characters with the trait "Scroll Lore" are no longer starting the game with 5 randomly selected scrolls; instead, they get scrolls with the spells "Vortex", "Prismatic Spray", "Shield", "Destroy Trap" and 3
  • characters with the trait "Scroll Lore" are no longer starting the game with 5 randomly selected scrolls; instead, they get magic scrolls with the spells "Shield", "Vortex", "Prismatic Spray", "Destroy Trap" and 3 calligraphy sets

  • bug fixed: scrolls and potions lying on the dungeon floor can no longer be identified by looking at them (they must be picked up first)
  • bug fixed: if the special level "Dragon Hoard" was visited via scroll during the earlier dungeon levels, it was filled with skeletons instead of dragons
  • bug fixed: the spell "Free Mana" can no longer increase the mana of the character beyond the "maximum mana" atribute
  • bug fixed: the fishing rod can now only be used at water tiles with a fish symbol
  • bug fixed: the spiked pit only causes damage after the character has actually moved
  • bug fixed: the spell "Drain Life" did not work correctly with the trait "Brawny"
  • bug fixed: with the trait "Brawny" the character didn't get an increase in actual lifepoints when raising strength

Due to a programming bug it was not possible to create new forum entries; this problem is fixed now.

  • new version: 4.013b
  • new trait: Packmule (the character has a pack mule that carries all unused items around; unused items are excluded from the encumbrance total)
  • new trait: Brawny (the character gets 2 additional lifepoints for each point of strength)
  • removed the "ambush" ability from all low-level monsters with poison weapons (like Dark Elfs, Giant Centipedes, Ninjas etc.)
  • conjured items are no longer destroyed upon entering the Nexus
  • static teleporters are excluded from the effects of the level modifier "teleport lock" (the special level "Halls of Illusion" was unsolveable with the level modifier "teleport lock")
  • reduced number of giant cobwebs to (level/5) per level
  • new items: mage staff (magic weapon with bonus to spellpower), mage blade (magic weapon with bonus to spellpower), magic herbs (when consumed, increase current mana by 1-6 points)
  • new labyrinth feature: portculli (crushes down behind the character; chance of (strength*10%) to lift it up again per turn)
  • new monsters: Jackal, Giant Slug, Giant Horsefly, Scaled Lizard, Myconid, Elder Myconid, Giant Stag Beetle, Manticor, Gargoyle
  • new monster ability: spawning (50% chance that the monster spawns a new monster of the same type on an adjacent space instead of attacking)
  • new monster ability: cause disease (if the character gets hit in melee combat, there's a (damage)*10% chance that a disease is caused; the level of the disease equals rand(0,strength of monster); a diseased character gets -1 to attack, strength, dexterity, perception, movement and spellpower (and an additional -1 for each 10 levels of the disease); there's also a chance of 20% per turn that the character takes a point of damage per turn by the disease; the chance that the disease will be reduced by one level equals (maxLifepoints) in % per turn)
  • giant cobwebs can now be burned with the universal usage key "U"
  • new monster ability: Immunity vs damage from arcane energies (spells based on arcance energies like "Arcane Bolt" or "Vortex" do no damage)
  • new monster ability: Immunity vs lightning (the "Lightning" spell does no damage)
  • new monster ability: Immunity vs damage from wind and storm (spells based on wind and storm like "Whirlwind" or "Tempest" do no damage)
  • bug fixed: unsuccessfully trying to move a boulder did not end the current turn
  • bug fixed: after loading a character template, the character point total was messed up
